Mor Kuzhambu: South Indian Yogurt and Spice Curry Recipe

Ingredients: – 1 cup thick yogurt – 1/4 cup tamarind pulp – 1/4 cup toor dal – 1 tsp mustard seeds – 1 tsp cumin seeds – 1 tsp urad dal – 1 tsp chana dal – 1 tbsp oil – 1 tsp turmeric powder – 1 tsp red chili powder – Salt to taste – Curry leaves for garnish

Instructions: 1. Soak tamarind in 1 cup of water for 20 minutes and extract the pulp.

2. Cook toor dal in 2 cups of water until it becomes soft.

3.  Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, urad dal, and chana dal. Fry until they turn golden brown.

4. Add turmeric powder and red chili powder to the pan and mix well.

5. Add tamarind pulp and salt to the pan and mix well. Bring it to a boil.

6. Add the cooked toor dal to the pan and mix well.

7. Add the yogurt to the pan and mix well. Bring it to a boil.

8. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes.

9. Garnish with curry leaves and serve hot with rice.

Note: You can adjust the amount of tamarind and red chili powder to your taste preference.
